After cardiac bypass surgery in 2004 and stent placement in 2010, former President Bill Clinton went on a vegan diet. He learned that 82% heart patients who went on the vegan diet reversed their risk of getting heart disease.

Drs. Campbell, Esselstyn, and Ornish have shown that the risk factors for heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke could be reversed when patients go on a whole plant-based diet with low saturated fat.

Our body needs small amounts of cholesterol for normal cell function. Cholesterol is made in our body; we do not need the extra cholesterol from animal products.

On the vegan diet, Bill Clinton lost 24 pounds in one year. People in research studies shed unwanted pounds after they were put on a whole plant-based diet. This was the result, in part, of the absence of cholesterol and low levels of saturated fat in most plants. These research subjects lost weight without calorie counts or portion control.
